Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family law. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent adoptions and private adoptions for parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediations for people who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.
After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters involving child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at hands of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond her legal practice as she was active as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce, child support, custody and guardianships as well as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with a commitment to providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
