THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She concentrates the majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as issues involving children's welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who would prefer to avoid the litigation and court process.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrates her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered abuse or neglect at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce, custody, child support and guardianships, as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy - and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the aim of providing a personalized approach for every client's need.
