THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice focuses on various aspects of family matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters, step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, along with commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 she assists parties in helping them resolve their matters without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to stay clear of litigation and court processes.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrates her dedication to scholarship and legal research.

Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters dealing with child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts played a crucial role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice went beyond the realm of law and she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce child support, custody and guardianships - aswell as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to every client's need.
